Dental Implants

SERVICE OVERVIEW

Dental Implants

Dental implants are titanium replacements for the root of a missing tooth in the upper or lower jaw. They fuse to the bone, providing support for a replacement tooth. Implants are important to prevent the jawbone from shrinking, which can age the face. Dr. Lee provides comfortable, safe implants that will last a lifetime and require no extra upkeep than your typical daily oral care. Best of all, not only are they often indistinguishable from your natural teeth, but implant procedures allow us to bypass any need to alter the surrounding healthy teeth in any way.

Who Needs A Dental Implant

If you’re missing one or more teeth, Dr. Lee might recommend a Dental Implant. Nearly anyone in good health whose jaw has finished growing is a candidate. Dr. Lee will only use this treatment with a fully-formed jaw. This has more to do with the effectiveness of the implant than it does with any dangers from the treatment itself. In reality, dental implants are a very routine procedure and offer little cause for concern.

Dr. Lee will let you know if you are a candidate for a dental implant.

Procedure

Dr. Lee follows typical treatment guidelines regarding dental implants. This involves a staged surgery.

First, Dr. Lee will insert the implant into the bone underneath the gum. This setting of the implant protects it from harm. Dr. Lee will let this implant heal to make sure everything is going well!  After the Dr. feels you are ready she will check the implant to make sure it has successfully integrated itself into your jaw bone. Once the Dr. is satisfied that the implant is stable, she will begin the final restorative step. Dr. Lee will create and place a prosthetic tooth atop the implant, completing your new smile!

Implants can seem intimidating. Modern dental work has led to a time when dental implants are a typical, routine treatment option. Dr. Lee loves to show off her cosmetic dental skills in the final stage!
